…Well not quite yellow or a road but it is a brick path ๐ We currently have a wood chip path which isn’t very durable when you get muddy wellies, soย I decided a while back, it would be great to have a better surface for our path.
Finally, a few months after my bright idea, the hard work begins… Last night, we made the most of the fading evening light,ย with wheelbarrows loaded with bricks, we raced down to the lottie (wheelbarrow race obviously :D) ย The bricks were bloomin heavy! Who needs a gym work out? Nicely toned biceps for me ๐
After evicting a family of snails that had made their home in the bricks we’d already laid, we discovered that we were about a row short of bricks! Not to worry, I’m going to get some more from my Grandad’s back garden, then it will be complete ๐
We’ll need some major energy and muscle (with tea and choccie biscuits! :D) when we dig them in the ground. ย They do look fab and we’re really pleased with them ๐

The bricks are beautiful – they like they’ve got a bit of heart to them. We were thinking about putting a bark/ woodchip path down our plot and this is making us rethink – did you find yours awful? Do you think they are just not worth it? x
Thanks ๐ they’re from an old chimney stack, well some of them are ๐ and hand made too! We’ve used wood chip for a while but when the mud was soggy and we trudged up and down the path we ended up with it on our wellies. We’ve got it between the raised beds and that’s been down a while but isn’t walked on very often. If you’re using the path a lot you may want to use something more permanent ๐ x
These bricks look great. Are they bedding in okay? I love to see things being reused – much more heart than those yellow and pink concrete slabs they sell cheap in b&q!
We’re really pleased with the look, we’ve not dug them in yet… Hopefully we will do in the spring! We’ve not got enough time at the mo. I love things which character, some of the bricks are over 100 years old from an old chimney stack ๐ I’m not keen on the ones from b&q pulse these were free ๐
