Picture Of The Week ~ He’s On His Way
Not long to go now… it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🙂

Cold crisp winter light.  It would be great to have some of the frost back 🙂
Jack Frost working his magic on our beetroots.  A beautiful gift of nature 🙂
Our watering can has now retired for the winter after working so hard in the summer.  I’ve decided to give him a little festive make over.  Adding a little bit of colour and a nice Christmassy touch to our garden 🙂 The things I’ve used are : Berries (kindly given to me by my allotment…
It’s really kind of one of our allotment neighbours to give a swede to us this weekend 😀 Yum Yum
I couldn’t resist going to the allotment this weekend. Â Saturday morning me and little Jassy were sat all snuggle together on the sofa, enjoying hot porridge and a cup of tea (Jassy had her chewy woof woof). Â I kept looking out of the window at the dusting of frost on the roof tops… ‘I wonder…
It’s certainly turned a lot cooler this week! 😀 Jack Frost even made a brief appearance 🙂  I whizzed down to the allotment to see how everything was doing early on Tuesday morning.  Our plot is in a frost pocket, the frost will be working wonders on our parsnips and sprouts – hopefully they will…
Back in August, me and Mr.B were pottering around our local garden centre and spotted CHRISTMAS POTATOES (charlottes) 😀 Very exciting moment, we’ve never had a go at growing them, so we thought this year we can add potatoes to our christmas dinner plate! After having such great weather in September and most of October,…
I took advantage of the nice weather yesterday afternoon. Â After drying out from the downpours in the morning, it was great to get my woolies on, and my shiny new Joules wellies (don’t really want to get them muddy… hehe). Â Off I popped for some fresh air, some much needed tidying up to do on…
Happy Halloween… Have a spooookkkyy time! 😀
I love autumn, it’s a really beautiful time of the year. Â Lots of bold warm colours, the pavement scattered with nature’s confetti. Â My favourite seasons are autumn and winter. Â With the clocks changing and the darker nights drawing in fast, all cosy and warm indoors, I’ve been thinking back to how the allotment changes throughout…
…Well not quite yellow or a road but it is a brick path 🙂 We currently have a wood chip path which isn’t very durable when you get muddy wellies, so I decided a while back, it would be great to have a better surface for our path. Finally, a few months after my bright idea,…
The allotment is starting to get ready to be put to bed for the winter.  However the site isn’t going to sleep just yet… We still have lots of bursting colour around the different plots 😀 I’m not a pink person myself, but these are truly stunning magenta! 🙂 Lottie Land Girl Kaz xx

There’s a chill in the air.  I have to say I’m quite relieved (being a winter baby!)  It’s been a lovely hot summer, which has worked wonders for our flowers and veggies.  Now I’m glad it’s time to put your warm snuggly jumpers on, toast your toes by the fire and keep cosy indoors 🙂…
Today marks our two year Happy Plot Day 😀 I can still remember how excited we felt making our flask of tea.  Putting on our new wellies and heading down in the rain to the plot, ready to ‘dig in’ 🙂 We did really well considering that it was our first year ‘growing our own’…
It has to be said… I have complete pumpkin and squash envy! We’ve tried for two years on our plot to grow delicious pumpkins and squashes, with no success… We planted ‘Pumpkin Jack Be Little’ seeds in 2012. Â The thought behind that, was that they wouldn’t grow too enormous and take over the plot. Â That…
I’m sat here with a nice piece of cheesecake and a cup of coffee thinking, I can’t believe it’s that time of year when we put in our order for spuds and onions! This is what we’ve decided to order for next year… 🙂 First Earlies we’ve picked are Arran Pilot.  For Second Earlies, my ultimate…
We’re so lucky to have a honey beehive on the allotment! Luis moved one of his hives to our site earlier this year. Â He comes to inspect the bees every weekend, nice and early before everyone starts coming to work on their plots… Luis has kindly given anyone on the allotment the opportunity to come…
Me and Jassy got absolutely soaking wet through on our walk before.  We thought we’d planned it perfectly… have a run on the field, then take a nice picturesque walk back though the allotment… the timing was all wrong! 😀 We found the weather has battered our sunflowers.  Blustery autumn winds and harsh downpours of…
The nights are drawing in fast 🙂 it’s great to spend the evenings snuggle up in the house, candles on and a nice cup of tea in hand. I got my copy of The National Allotment Society‘s seed catalogue at the weekend… pens at the ready! We can order our veggie & flower seeds though…
I’m really chuffed about how well my cheap packet of wildflower seeds did this year.  I wasn’t very hopeful that they would do anything, how wrong I was! 🙂 The wild flowers have brought a big boost of life on our plot. It’s been great being on bug watch, I spy… ladybirds, bumble bees, honey…
The first sunflower of the season popped open today 🙂 Ours seem to have opened very late this year! We’ve still got quite a few on the plot ready to open.  A lot of other people’s sunflowers are already in full bloom! Fingers crossed they grace us with their presence very soon 🙂 Here’s what…
Happy Monday everyone! I hope you’ve all had a great weekend –  We certainly did 🙂 Lots of doggie walking and playing on the allotment 🙂 On Saturday evening, I decided to pop out for some fresh air… Wellybobs at the ready and Jassy with her waggy tail – we set off out for a little…
